What is Canned Heat+?

Canned Heat+ is a smoke-free, indoor-safe fuel. It’s made from a high-purity alcohol-like compound called diethylene glycol, which burns hot but produces virtually zero smoke. It’s also spill-safe: it only burns through the wick in the can. If some gets spilled, it will not light.

The VESTA comes with 3 cans of Caned Heat+, each of which burns for up to 6 hours and is resealable. You can load 1, 2 or 3 cans of Canned Heat+ into the Vesta at one time. The VESTA uses the heat from Canned Heat+ to power its built-in fan, making it a uniquely efficient space heater that doesn’t require electricity.

To get the most out of your Canned Heat+, be sure to fluff up the wick material before lighting – this ensures the most efficient burn possible.

Yes. Unlike open-flame heaters, VESTA uses Canned Heat+, which produces minimal smoke and odor. Adequate ventilation is recommended.

How long does the canned heat last?

Each can burns for approximately 6 hours. With 3 cans loaded at once, you can run the VESTA for extended periods making it ideal for power outages.

Can I cook food directly on the VESTA?

Yes! You can boil water, heat up canned food, cook freeze-dried meals, and more using the top-mounted cooking surface in stove mode. We recommend always using a pot or pan and not cooking directly on the stove grate.

Does the VESTA require any electricity at all?

Nope. It’s completely self-powered–perfect for blackouts, off-grid living, or bug-out kits.

How long does it take to start producing heat?

VESTA begins heating almost immediately after lighting. The fan will begin spinning within 3 minutes and reach full speed around 8 minutes. For boiling water, it’s best to use a covered pot to speed up the cooking process.
